In short
This is a free, private directory for relatives of the Kongu Naattu Gounder community. You choose to register. Your name, village, district and kulam are listed for other members after an admin approves you. Your mobile number (unless you choose to hide it) and your address are shown only to an approved member who opens your profile. There are no advertisements, no analytics or tracking tools, and no cookies. We do not sell or share your details with anyone outside the directory (the only outside services we use are the ones that send our emails, see section 6, and, in the Android app only, the ones that deliver notifications, see section 5A), and you can edit or delete your registration yourself at any time.
The admin approves registrations by checking the details you give and, if needed, contacting you. This is not a verification of identity: do not treat the directory as proof that someone is who they say they are.
1. What we collect
- Required: your name, mobile number, a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form), state, district (or the name you type if it is not listed), taluk (or "I don't know"), village or town, street / door number, kulam and sub-category (or "Other / not sure"), and your confirmations that you are 18 or older and agree to this use of your details.
- Optional: an email address, an exact map location, and the extra details described below. A location is saved only if you press the button to add it, and it is hidden from others unless you switch sharing on. Your browser asks for your permission before it gives the site your location.
- Optional extra details you may add on the "More details" page: your occupation; your blood group and whether you are ready to donate blood; and the names and relation of your family members (for example "Lakshmi – spouse"); a small picture (avatar) chosen from a fixed set, which is not a photo; and a note that a groom or a bride in your family is ready for marriage, with a confirmation that the person is of legal marriage age. We keep no other marriage details such as age, photo or horoscope. We do not ask for phone numbers, addresses or ages of family members. If you choose to show your family names to other members, those names can also be used when an approved member searches the directory: a search for a family member’s name will find your entry, and the list says which relative matched. Your family list is not searched if you do not choose to show it. Add only family members who are comfortable being listed; for children, a name only. All of this is optional and nothing here is needed to register.
- Admin records: when an admin approves, hides, deletes or otherwise manages a registration, or changes an admin's area, a short log line (who did what to whom, and when) is kept so the main admin can review the work. Admins may also post announcements and event notices for approved members in their area. The main admin can download the member list as a file; each such download is logged, and the file contains the same details admins can already see.
- Technical: a login token (kept as a hash on the server, valid for 180 days of use) and, to stop abuse, short-lived counters of attempts per mobile number and per network address (the address is stored only in scrambled form and is removed after at most a day).
- Notification address (Android app only): if you switch on notifications in the app, a device token (a random address for your phone issued by Google and Expo) and your language choice are stored with your record, together with your on/off choices for each kind of notification. The website never collects this. See section 5A.
- Blood requests: if you post a request for blood, we keep the blood group, the hospital or town you write, an optional short note, the time, and a link to your member record so that your own mobile number can be shown as the contact. We ask you not to write the patient's name or any medical details. Posting is optional and needs your tick to show your mobile number.
- News you send to the admin: if you send a condolence, wish or notice for the admin to publish, we keep the text you write and a link to your member record until the admin approves or rejects it. Please write only what you are happy for members to read. Rejected or old suggestions are deleted after 60 days.
- Reports: if you report a profile, we keep your reason and which member sent it, for the admin to review.
2. Who can see what
- Approved members see, in the list: name, village, district, kulam and sub-category.
- An approved member who opens your profile also sees your mobile number (unless you ticked the option to hide it; admins can still see it) and address (and your map location if you chose to show it), and your occupation if you added one. Each member can open a limited number of profiles per hour.
- "Near me" search: if you chose to share your map location, an approved member who searches for relatives nearby may see you in their results with your distance from them. Members who did not choose to share their location never appear in that search. The searcher's own position is used only for that search and is not stored.
- Blood group: shown to approved members only if you tick "I am ready to donate blood". Approved members can search for donors by blood group; only members who ticked that box appear in that search. If you do not tick it, nobody else can see your blood group.
- News you send: only you and the admin(s) of your area can see it until it is approved. When approved, the admin may correct the wording, and it is shown as a normal notice (without your name) to the members of the area the admin chooses. Condolences and wishes disappear after 3 days.
- Blood donor counts: the blood page shows only how many approved members in the state and district have ticked "ready to donate" for a blood group. It shows no names or numbers.
- Blood requests: a request you post, with your name and mobile number as the contact, is shown to approved members living in the same state as you, and is hidden automatically after 3 days or when you close it. It is not shown to anyone who is not an approved member. Approved members can report a request, and the admin of the area can remove it.
- Avatar and marriage note: if you choose them, they are shown to approved members in the list and on your profile. Interested members contact you directly using the name and mobile number they can already see. You can remove both at any time on the "More details" page.
- Family members' names and relation: shown to approved members only if you tick the box that allows it. Otherwise only you can see them.
- Admins are the main admin and the state, district or taluk admins the main admin appoints. The main admin sees everything you entered, including your email and whether it is confirmed, and can approve, hide or delete registrations, handle reports and give a one-time password code. A taluk or district admin sees and handles only the registrations in their own area, and can delete only registrations that are still waiting for approval.
- Admin phone numbers: to help you reach the right person, the phone number of the admin(s) for a taluk (or, if there is none, the district or the main admin) is shown on the registration and help pages, including to people who are not logged in. Names of admins are shown only to logged-in members. People become admins by their own agreement.
- Kulam information page: the page listing kulams, their naadu / kaani and the kulams with an uncle relationship (மாமன் உறவு) is general community information. It contains no personal details. In the directory, members can use it to filter the list by related kulams, using only the kulam each member has already chosen to list.
- Announcements and events: notices and event details posted by admins are shown to approved members of the area they are meant for (the whole community, a district or a taluk). They contain only what the admin writes, and the name of the admin who posted is visible only to the main admin.
- People who are not approved members, and search engines, cannot see the directory. The site asks search engines not to index it.
- Please remember: any approved member can copy what they see. Register only if you are comfortable with that. Do not use other members' details for anything other than contacting them in good faith, and never to advertise, harass or sell.
3. Why we use it
Only to run the directory: letting approved relatives find and contact each other, letting you log in, letting the admin approve and manage registrations, flagging possible duplicates for the admin to check (for example, the same address, or the same name in the same village, registered twice; this never blocks a registration), handling reports, sending the confirmation and password-reset emails you ask for, and showing announcements and events. We do not use your details for marketing, profiling or any automated decision.
4. Where it is kept
Details are stored in a database and served by Cloudflare (Workers and D1), which handles standard technical information needed to deliver a page, such as your IP address, as infrastructure. Cloudflare may keep database backups for a short period it sets. The main admin may also keep a private backup copy of the database for recovery; it is stored privately, is not shared, and is replaced over time. The site fonts and images are served from the site itself; no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers are loaded. If you give an email address, it is also handled by the external email-sending services we use only to send the emails described in section 6 (Resend, and Mailjet and Brevo as back-ups when one has reached its daily limit; see below).
5. On your phone
The site stores three things in your browser's own storage (not cookies): your login token, your language choice (Tamil or English) and your text-size choice. Logging out removes the token. If you add the site to your home screen, the browser may also keep a copy of the site's pages and images (not your personal details) so it opens faster and shows a basic page when offline.
5A. Notifications in the Android app
This section applies only to the Kongu Naattu Gounder Community Android app. The website at kngc.in does not send notifications and does not use any of the services below; it still has no analytics, no cookies and no third-party scripts.
- What is sent: if you allow notifications, the app gives our server a device token. When something is posted that is meant for you, our server sends the notification text and your device token to Expo's push service, which passes it to Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) so that it reaches your phone. These services receive only the token and the notification text; they do not receive your name, mobile number, address or any other detail from your record.
- What the text contains: for a notice or event, the title the admin wrote (so please expect it to be short and general); for a condolence or wish, only a general line asking you to open the app, never the names; for a blood request, the blood group and the hospital or town; when your registration is approved, a message saying so; admins also get a message that a new member is waiting, without the name. Mobile numbers are never put in a notification.
- Who gets what: only approved members in the area a post is meant for. Blood-request notifications go only to members who ticked "ready to donate", whose blood group can help, in the same district or state.
- Your control: you can switch each kind of notification on or off in the app, or turn off notifications for the app in your phone settings. Logging out, deleting your registration, or an unusable token removes the token from our server.
- Google's and Expo's own privacy policies apply to how they handle the token while delivering the message. A notification shown on a locked screen can be read by anyone looking at your phone.
6. Email and password reset
An email address is optional. If you give one, we use it only to send you a confirmation link (to check that the address is yours), a short note when an admin approves your registration, and, if you forget your password, a password reset link. These emails are sent through Resend, an external email-sending service (or, when Resend has reached its free daily limit, through Mailjet or Brevo, which are used in the same way), which receives your email address and the message so that it can deliver it; we do not use it for anything else, and we send no newsletters or advertisements. When someone new registers, the main admin and the admin(s) of that person's area who have a confirmed email address also receive a short email for each new registration saying that a new member is waiting for approval, with the new member's name and village (never the mobile number or address); this email goes through the same services. The reset link works only for the address you have confirmed.
If you have no confirmed email, or prefer not to use it, a forgotten password is reset by the admin, who gives you a one-time code (valid for 24 hours) over WhatsApp after checking it is you. If you contact the admin on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that chat.
7. Your choices and deleting your data
- You can edit your details, hide or show your exact location, hide or show your mobile number to other members, change your password, mobile number or email, or delete your registration from the "My account" page. Deleting removes your record, your login sessions and any codes at once. A report you made about someone else stays for the admin but is no longer linked to you. In the admin activity log and in notices you posted (if you were an admin), your name is taken out of the older lines. One exception: if an admin deletes your registration, a log line naming you and the date is kept, so that admin actions can be reviewed.
- You can add, change or remove your occupation, blood group, donor choice and family list at any time on the "More details" page. Deleting your registration also deletes these details and your family list.
- You can close your own blood request at any time. Closed and expired requests are not shown, and are deleted from our records after 30 days. Deleting your registration deletes your blood requests at once.
- You can also ask the admin on WhatsApp, or write to the address below, to correct or delete your details.
- The admin may hide or remove a registration that is fake, duplicated, or misused. When an admin removes a registration, a copy is kept for 30 days, visible only to the main admin, so that a mistake can be undone; after 30 days it is deleted for good (the main admin can also delete it earlier). When you delete your own registration, nothing is kept.
8. Keeping it safe
Passwords are stored as salted hashes; the site uses HTTPS; lists never show phone numbers; there is a limit on wrong-password attempts, registrations and profile views; every admin action is checked on the server each time and is logged. No system is perfectly safe, and the main risk is the one in section 2: approved members can see and copy details. Tell us right away if you think your account is misused.
9. Children
The directory is for adults. You must be 18 or older to register. If you believe a person under 18 is registered, tell us and we will remove the registration.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how it is shown, we will update this page and its date, and ask you to agree again where the change needs it. Other ZevoraTech products have their own policies.
11. Contact
Questions or requests about your details: info@zevoratech.in · Contact page, or message the admin on WhatsApp from the directory's home page.
